Arrive in Deer Lake (airport code YDF) on Newfoundland’s west coast and begin your journey north. En route, enjoy your first views of the dramatic landscapes of Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its ancient geology and striking coastal scenery. Transfers from the Deer Lake airport to the hotel are included for every passenger. Arrive in Corner Brook, to settle in and refresh from travel.

Today we explore the incredible Gros Morne National Park, with its towering inland fjords and walking trails. We will learn about the geology of the area at the Gros Morne Visitor Centre and experience it firsthand with a scenic walk through the Tablelands area, discovering the unique flora and fauna native to the region. Moose, caribou, waterfalls, and dozens of unforgettable photographic scenes add to this UNESCO World Heritage Destination.

Next, we visit Lobster Cove Lighthouse in Rocky Harbour and enjoy a boat cruise of Bonne Bay and participate in an age-old tradition – the “Screech In” ceremony, featuring live traditional music, kissing a cod fish, and a taste of the famous Newfoundland Screech.

Following the boat cruise, the day concludes with dinner and a traditional Newfoundland Show.

A late morning departure from Rocky Harbour and travel north along the spectacular Viking Trail, a route known for its rugged coastline, boreal forests, and traditional outport communities. The day is broken into several scenic and cultural stops to ensure a comfortable pace.

The first stop is Arches Provincial Park, where dramatic limestone sea arches and towering cliffs offer an easy, short walk and excellent photo opportunities.

Continue to Port au Choix National Historic Site, an important archaeological area with evidence of Indigenous and early European presence dating back thousands of years; a guided visit provides insight into the region’s deep history.

A further stop is made in Raleigh fishing village, allowing time to explore the harbour, stretch, and enjoy views of the coastline while learning about contemporary outport life.

Today, the highlight is L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, the only authenticated Viking settlement in North America. A guided visit brings Norse history vividly to life through reconstructed sod buildings and interpretive exhibits.

Bid farewell to Newfoundland’s west coast as you journey east into central Newfoundland. Following the Trans-Canada Highway through rolling forests, rivers, and wide-open boreal landscapes. Our first stop is near Deer Lake, where we stretch our legs and enjoy a relaxed break surrounded by mountain views and local culture before continuing onward. Back on the road, the drive offers classic central Newfoundland scenery—quiet lakes, dense woodland, and small outport communities—before our second stop in Grand Windsor-Falls. From here, we continue on to Gander.

This morning after breakfast, we visit the Iceberg Alley and the historic town of Twillingate.

At the Prime Berth Fishery and Heritage Centre, an interpretive fishing centre, we learn about the history of the all-important fishing industry in Newfoundland, and how the industry has changed over the years.

Enjoy a scenic boat ride along Twillingate’s rugged coast where you get up-close views of towering icebergs and watch puffins and other seabirds in their natural habitat, guided by a local captain sharing stories of the sea.

This afternoon is spent exploring the area with a tour taking in the history of Twillingate and the surrounding areas.

We stop and visit Long Point Lighthouse, which sits more than 300 feet above the sea and is still operated by one lighthouse keeper year-round, guiding ships through the fog and the stormy nights.

Before departing, we will enjoy dinner at the local Dinner Theatre.

We will visit the North Atlantic Aviation Museum this morning and learn about the important historical events that have made this town an inspiration to all Canadians.

A visit to Bonavista brings us to one of Newfoundland’s most historic and windswept headlands, where land and sea meet dramatically. We step aboard The Matthew, a full-scale replica of John Cabot’s 1497 vessel, and explore the nearby Ryan Premises, where restored merchant buildings and exhibits bring the town’s rich fishing and trading history vividly to life.

The experience is capped with a visit to the iconic Cape Bonavista Lighthouse, standing proudly above crashing waves and rugged cliffs, offering sweeping ocean views, seabirds overhead, and a powerful sense of the province’s seafaring past.

Before arriving into Trinity, a stop in the Dungeon Provincial park UNESCO Geosite to view the Sea caves, where waves surge through carved rock formations and the raw power of the Atlantic is on full display.

Travelling from Trinity, we follow the scenic coastal roads of the Avalon Peninsula, where colourful fishing villages, rocky coves, and rolling green hills make every turn picture-perfect.

Our first stop is in Terra Nova Park, a rest stop, and a visit to the Marine Interpretation Centre. Inside the centre, you’ll find live marine exhibits including a touch tank and aquariums, where you can see and learn about fascinating ocean creatures up close, plus interpretive displays about the park’s coastal and marine ecosystems.

Next stop will be in Dildo, where we stroll along the harbour, snap photos with the famous town sign, and enjoy the playful charm of this quirky outport community.

Next, in Cupids, Newfoundland’s first English settlement, we visit the Cupids Legacy Centre, where interactive exhibits and archaeological displays bring over 400 years of history vividly to life.

Continuing on to Brigus, we explore the charming town on foot, visiting Hawthorne Cottage, the home of Arctic explorer Captain Bob Bartlett, and take in the harbour views while hearing stories of maritime adventure.

With scenic walks, photo stops, and local treats along the coast, the day blends history, scenery, and playful exploration, finishing in St. John’s, where the colourful row houses, vibrant streets, and lively harbourfront welcome us.

After enjoying breakfast this morning, begin with a guided tour of historic St. John's, including Jellybean Row, Signal Hill, Cabot Tower, and panoramic views of the harbour Narrows.

Enjoy a cruise to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve to witness vast seabird colonies, including Atlantic Puffins and Murres, and enjoy the rich marine life (5 whale species are possible) of the North Atlantic.

Continue along the scenic coastline, stopping at Cape Spear, the easternmost point of North America, for breathtaking views and photo opportunities.

This morning, we will immerse ourselves in the traditions of Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest public cultural space, The Rooms, showcasing history, heritage and artistic expression of this unique province.

Next, visit the charming fishing village of Quidi Vidi, known for its colourful historic houses, peaceful harbour, and the iconic Quidi Vidi Brewery. Enjoy some free time to take in the village’s serene coastal scenery and the atmosphere that has inspired countless local artists and makers.
