Welcoming Rail Journey - Perfect for a Group of Welcoming Adults

Norway and the Fjords with The Traveling Professor is one of the most naturally welcoming small group tours we offer. The beauty of Norway is unforgettable, but what makes this journey especially enjoyable is the way the itinerary brings travelers together in a relaxed and comfortable way.

This is a wonderful small group trip because so much of the experience is shared. The scenic train rides through Norway’s lakes, forests, mountains, waterfalls, and fjord country give travelers time to talk, compare photos, and enjoy the changing views together. The famous Flåmsbana Railway, descending from the mountains to the fjord village of Flåm, is the kind of experience that is even better when shared with fellow travelers.

In Flåm, the social nature of the tour becomes even more apparent. Our stay at the beautiful Fretheim Hotel places us beside the fjord in one of Norway’s most scenic settings. The hotel’s welcoming lobby overlooking the fjord becomes a natural gathering place before and after the day’s activities. It is an ideal spot to relax, talk with fellow travelers, plan the next day, or simply enjoy the view together.

The traditional Norwegian buffet dinners are another highlight of the trip. These authentic smorgasbord-style meals give the group time to gather at the end of the day, enjoy good food, and share stories from the day’s experiences. There are also opportunities to join others for easy hikes, fjord cruises, and an exciting Fjord Safari that brings travelers up close to Norway’s dramatic scenery.

This tour is social without being overly structured. Travelers have time to enjoy Norway together, but also the freedom to explore at their own pace. Whether traveling independently, with a spouse, or with friends, Norway and the Fjords with The Traveling Professor is a warm, scenic, and welcoming small group journey by rail.
